Building Impact’s mission is to strengthen communities by providing individuals and companies with the knowledge and opportunity to volunteer, donate, and connect in the buildings where they work or live. Building Impact makes giving back convenient by bringing volunteer events and donation drives to participants in office and apartment buildings throughout Greater Boston. We then channel 100% of the volunteerism and giving to fill service gaps in underserved local communities.

 

Building Impact currently reaches over 20,000 people in 640 companies spread across 55 buildings in 15 Massachusetts communities. By partnering with building owners and managers, and business leaders, Building Impact gains access to entire buildings and companies of people who were previously difficult to reach and engage. Our work is unique, raising awareness and sourcing needed resources for nonprofits and their clients. Our organization is growing, launching in new office buildings and companies in Greater Boston. Position Description and Scope of Work:

Building Impact is seeking an Intern to support development, organization, and implementation of volunteer events and programs for the Summer of 2017. This internship is an exciting opportunity to gain project management skills and insight into Building Impact’s operations, including but not limited to our programming, events, communications, and marketing.

 

Program Support:

  • Planning, coordination and execution of numerous volunteer projects (ranging in size from groups of 10 volunteers-1,500 volunteers)
  • Assist with communication and planning of events/projects with both nonprofits and corporate groups
  • Manage ordering of project supplies and their delivery to project locations
  • Develop a volunteer group community mural project including design, logistics and implementation
  • Assist with marketing communications for our nonprofit partners and volunteers (i.e. signs, newsletters, emails, website, social media, blog posts and Building Impact App)
  • Assist in facilitating volunteer events and corporate days of service
  • Manage BI social media posts while out at volunteer projects/events
  • Salesforce entry (pre- and post- events, new contacts, etc.)
  • Research our nonprofit partner organizations and develop informational resources about their volunteer opportunities
  • Support with donation drives and one-off donations
  • Assist with compiling and editing impact reports
  • Offer general support with any administrative or office tasks at hand

 

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and competencies:

  • Current B.A./B.S. Candidate
  • Candidates 21+ preferred (not required)
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License
  • Passion for Building Impact’s mission of civic engagement
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to think outside of the box and problem solve
  • Demonstrates professionalism always across a variety of business sectors
  • Artistic and creativity skill a plus- (i.e. designing murals for volunteer projects)
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office systems
  • Highly organized with demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects and manage time well
  • Comfort with leading groups and public speaking a plus
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and InDesign a plus
  • Ability to handle moderate to heavy lifting when needed (preferred but not necessary)

 

Schedule/Compensation:

  • May- August 2017
  • Flexible start/end dates – can accommodate academic or work schedule
  • 16 hours per week minimum
  • Potential for stipend based upon hours and contributions made to Building Impact
