Join us for the National Day of Service at The Food Project, a recognized leader in sustainable agrictulure and youth leadership founded right here in Massachusetts. Volunteers will be getting their hands dirty at their farm in Boston, helping tend the fields and bring in the harvest.

Build a Home in Lawrence
Construct affordable housing for a local family with Habitat for Humanity. Tools and gloves provided, just bring your enthusiasm and a bag lunch! All experience levels welcome.
Sort Food for the Hungry
Sort, organize and pack food at the Greater Boston Food Bank. Prepared food shipments will then be distributed to food pantries throughout the state.
Serve a Meal to the Hungry
Serve dinner to men and women at Pine Street Inn. This Boston non-profit organization provides emergency shelter, affordable housing and outreach services for over 1,200 individuals. Directions.
Farm for Those in Need
Tend the fields and start bringing in the harvest at Gaining Ground! This community farm distributes fresh produce to emergency food programs and pantries across the state. This event is kid-friendly--kids age 8 and up are welcome. Directions.
Sort Home Goods & Baby Gear in Lowell
The Lowell Wish Project provides basic home and baby goods to families in the Merrimack Valley. Inspect and sort donations at their warehouse to be distributed to people in need. Directions.

Volunteer: Serve Meals to the Hungry
Prepare and serve dinner for individuals served by the Salvation Army Miracle Kitchen. Give a smile and a meal to people in need. We are sorry, but this event is full! Please check out our other events offered this summer!
Volunteer: Prepare Meals for the Homebound
Provide nutrition and caring to those in need by preparing meals at Community Servings. This local organization provides free meals to homebound individuals with terminal illnesses and their families. Directions

Go Deeper: Volunteer with Horizons for Homeless Children
Horizons for Homeless Children is looking for adult volunteers to help young children learn and grow through play. Join their Playspace program and volunteer 2 hours a week to play with children in homeless shelters. Attend a training to learn about this rewarding 6-month commitment. Trainings are two nights, three hours each.
