Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities Featured This Month:

Boston and Framingham Areas

Become a Samaritans Befriending Volunteer.

Both The Samaritans' 24-hour befriending service and Samariteens, a teen befriending line, are staffed entirely by trained volunteers from two locations in Boston and Framingham. Volunteers do not need any particular prior experience or training, but should have deep respect for human life and a desire to reach out to those in pain. Samaritans builds on these qualities in an extensive training course, teaching the skills necessary to volunteer as a helpline befriender. To find out how to become a volunteer in Boston or Framingham, contact your Community Connector.

Lowell Area

Become an advocate for a student in need.

The Special Education Surrogate Parent Program recruits and trains volunteers across the state of Massachusetts to act as special education decision-makers for children who are in in the custody of a state agency. These children have no parent or guardian available to make these decisions on their behalf. Volunteers will advocate for a student during the school year. To learn more or to sign up for a training, contact your Community Connector.
