January: Cards for Ethos
These cards will be sent out with the meals on wheels deliveries that bring hot, nutritious meals to the homes of over 900 isolated elders everyday! Time and time again, Ethos receives feedback from the seniors, especially those who are more isolated, that these cards brighten their days.
February: Dog Toys - Animal Rescue League
Create dog toys out of fleece to PetsEmpower, a nonprofit that fosters and reunites pets with survivors of Domestic Violence. They work to increase capacity across the United States for short-term pet fostering allowing domestic violence survivors to enter shelters, access services and reunite with their pets.
March: Jewelry Kits- Pine Street Inn
Bring a message of hope to homeless women served at the Pine Street Inn through a lotus-adorned jewelry kit. Lotus flowers are a symbol of hope because they grow directly out of murky waters and produce beautiful white and pink blossoms. The Pine Street Inn serves more than 1,900 women and men daily who are working to transition out of homelessness.
April: Seedling Kits - The Boys and Girls Club
Assemble Seedling Kits for the Boys and Girls Club to help them celebrate Earth Day! These kits will teach kids not only to care and nurture, but also celebrate nature!
May: Funstration Kits- First Teacher
Create funstration kits to be distributed to families with preschool age children at First Teacher’s 4th Annual Summer Fun Fair. These kits support early learning and creativity in preschool-age children to prepare them for kindergarten.
June: Camp Care Packages: Crossroads for Kids
Assemble Camp Care Packages for campers with Crossroads for Kids! Camp Crossroads often acts as the first time away from home for low income kids, so the care packages will be especially appreciated as the campers adjust to being at camp!
July: Letters to Soldiers – A Million Thanks
Support our active, reserve and veteran military by sending millions of letters of thanks and encouragement directly to service members! Thanks to the partnership of A Million Thanks, a nonprofit that provides support and appreciation to our active and veteran military men and women.
August: Cat Toys – The Cat Connection
Create playful cat toys for abandoned and stray cats that are rescued by The Cat Connection, an all-volunteer nonprofit and no-kill organization.
September: Literacy Packets - Boston Public Schools
Assemble literacy activity packets for Boston Public Schools to provide hands-on educational opportunity on rainy or too cold of days for kids to have recess or lunch outside.
October: Trail Mix - Pine Street Inn
Create trail mix bags that provide support and security to those experiencing homelessness. The bags will be handed out at Pine Street Inn, a nonprofit with the mission to be a community of respect and hope for each guest it serves; to be a resource through which neighbors and friends can help to meet the basic needs of others. These bags will not only provide food for those in times of transition and obstacles, but also act as a way for social workers to engage with those experiencing homelessness on the street and introduce them to their programming.
